The BBIA project "Innovations and Modern Practices in the Contemporary Library: Exchange at the Central Public Library of Veria" was approved by the Human Resource Development Centre for funding under the EU’s Lifelong Learning Programme (Leonardo da Vinci Sectoral Programme, Mobility Activity for Professionals in Vocational Education and Training). The following candidates were approved for participation: Desislava Ivanova, Mariana Gineva, Zhenet Alexandrova, Iskra Ivanova, Petya Georgieva, Nikolinka Kotseva, Iveta Filipova, Rositsa Kutsarova, Anna Kozhukharova, Anelia Ivanova.
BBIA’s goal is to improve the qualifications of instructors and the quality of teaching materials offered by the Center for Vocational Education at the “Contemporary Chitalishta” Association. Our specialists visited the library in Veria to gain insight into the vision and mechanisms behind one of the most modern libraries in Europe, aiming to integrate ideas, best practices, and models into the curriculum of the Level III professional qualification program for the librarian profession.
The visit took place from October 14 to 20, 2012.
The five-day program included a variety of activities: visits to different departments of the library, discussions with the team on management topics, and lectures by guest speakers on subjects such as the professional qualification of Greek librarians, digitization of written heritage, and the role of library leadership. The hosts also arranged visits to children’s libraries in Thessaloniki, furnished under the “Libraries of the Future” project.
The participants summarized their experience during a special seminar on December 7, 2012.
