ULISO is:

  • the Bulgarian Library Association uniting professionals in Library and Information Science
    from all types of  libraries in Bulgaria;  
  • founded in 1990;
  • NGO of 873 individual, 75 institutional members, 13 regional branches and 5 sections.

 

Priority areas
Adopted at the ULISO’s VIII Congress, June 1st, 2005
  • To develop and assert positions in defining and implementing national library and information policy.
  • To support harmonization of library bills and regulations with the European directives.
  • To work toward implementation of international technological standards in library and information services.
  • To coordinate and support partnership initiatives between libraries in carrying out their activities.
  • To launch new projects and events with local, national and international significance on general library issues as well as in specific priority areas.
  • To continue its activities as a leader of continuing education for librarians and information specialists, by putting efforts to strengthen the Center for Continuing Education for Librarians.
  • To collaborate with other similar NGOs and support the integration of country’s book printing & disseminating sector.
